Dudley Designs and Technical Services has grown considerably over the past 25 years.  It now employs over 30 engineers, who are competently qualified and experienced to deal with every size and type of engineering company.

Throughout their 25 year history the company have completed work for a myriad of sectors from aerospace and defence equipment, to nuclear and architecture sectors.  Their products have also incorporated everything from bathroom plug chains to a 2000 ton tensile testing machine.  Dudley Design and Technical services are undoubtedly consistent in the high quality service they offer for all engineering design and drawing work, publications and technical consultancy requirements.  In recent times Dudley designs have seen a market for new products and machines and have taken them to manufacturing companies who want their own products.  These have included log splitters of up to 40 tons capacity, sawdust compaction machines, stretchers for undertakers and hog roast machines amongst others.

The company was originally founded by Maurice Arnold, who had previously owned a small company which had designed and manufactured materials handling equipment and special purpose machines predominantly for the agricultural, construction, timber and quarrying industries.

Initially, Dudley Designs and Equipment was essentially a family run business.  Lesley Fithern, Maurice’s sister-in-law, dealt with accounts and admin and now continues to be company secretary/ financial director.  The present CAD/IT Manager, Lee Worth, started out with Arnold Equipment, before becoming a draughtsman for Dudley Designs and Equipment.

In 1997, Dudley Designs began, what was to be a great working relationship with NT CADCAM to introduce Solid Works CAD systems into the company.  To this day, Solid Works remains the firm’s first choice.

The management team has remained quite constant throughout the company’s history.  Paul Raybould has rejoined the team as Technical Services Manager to support Derek Whitehouse who is now semi-retired as Design Services Manager, and Ian Richards is Sales and Admin Manager.  Equally, the company has new plans for the future and are considering satellite offices in Devon, Kent and the north of Manchester.
