On top of the share of £9 million Innovate UK is offering to businesses and universities to develop innovative solutions to global energy challenges, innovative businesses and researchers from any sector can now apply for a share of an extra £10 million for the Energy Catalyst competition!
The aim of the Energy Catalyst is to accelerate innovation by providing investment and support at the time, in the way and at the scale that innovators need it. It will help stimulate and support innovation at all stages through to commercial readiness and bring the best ideas, processes, products and skills to the UK energy supply chain to make it globally competitive.
The Energy Catalyst supports businesses and research organisations, including academia, to respond to challenges across the energy sector. Proposed projects should address the 3 major challenges facing the energy industry

This additional funding is available for the early-stage award - technical feasibility.
Things to remember
- The Energy Catalyst Competition is open to businesses and to research organisations collaborating with a business
- Applications for the early-stage awards must register before noon on 7 September 2016?
- Total eligible project costs could be up to £300,000
- The amount of funding a business can attract varies between 25% and 70% according to the type of award and the size of the business
- Projects must last no longer than 12 months
