Coventry based aerospace supplier, Arrowsmith Engineering has secured two six-figure contracts with some of the industry’s global manufacturers – after investing in an expansion of its production facilities.

Arrowsmith Engineering, based on Bayton Road in Exhall, will be supplying ITP with specialist engine components. It has also secured a deal to supply leading aerospace manufacturer, Meggitt.

The firm was aided in the contract wins by a £450,000 extension to its factory, facilitated by funds from Coventry City Council through the Coventry & Warwickshire Growth Hub.

The money has enabled the business to extend its working area by 8,000 sq ft - including a new 5,000 sq ft factory - to increase manufacturing levels. The remaining 3,000 sq ft is new office space for a team of CAD designers, quality engineers and interns.

Jason Aldridge, managing director at Arrowsmith Engineering, said: “We’ve had to expand the size of the business to cater for demand from other big manufacturers that we supply parts to.”

These orders, which the likes of Rolls-Royce and Eaton, have quadrupled over the past year such is the buoyant nature of the industry.

“As well as general aircraft maintenance, the demand is being driven by the need to build more aircraft – whether it’s for civic or military use,” added Mr Aldridge.

“The new facilities have allowed us to lure talent from other big companies into our CAD design and quality engineering departments to develop products for clients, which in turn has attracted six interns into the business from Coventry University to learn their trade.”

Jaymie Thakordas, account manager at C&W Growth Hub, worked with the company to secure funding for the business.

She said Arrowsmith was working at the cutting-edge of aerospace technology but its efforts had seen it rewarded with contracts to supply parts to around half of all civil aircraft manufacturers.

“The potential for this business to grow is huge and this latest agreement with ITP is evidence of this,” she said.

“We also believe this investment will have a positive knock-on effect for the bigger manufacturers in the Coventry and Warwickshire area that Arrowsmith supply to, such as Meggitt.”
