The Skills Factory is once again offering a series of bite size courses aimed at Black County based businesses to assist with upskilling their workforce.

Throughout October, November and December bite sized courses in Autocad and Solidworks will take place at the University of Wolverhampton.  These courses are suitable for design engineers and draughts persons.  The courses are designed to suit all levels/business types and there is no pre-requisites but you must have an understanding of CAD.

AUTOCAD

  • Basic CAD fundamentals using tools, displays and lay plan options. Use shortcut key functions to produce simple drawings, using grid, object snap, Ltdscale, zooming options, pan, layers and drawing modifying commands.
  • Demonstrate Cad fundamental tools for inserting a wide range of Autocad entries, from line types to text, layers to attributes. Use a wide range of font styles to suit the most demanding applications and look at texting, editing and dimensioning in greater depth.
  • Allows the client the capacity to improve their skills when creating dimension styles for a variety of object types in many orientations and alignments. Gain the skills required to create and edit a variety of drafting and modelling concepts

SOLIDWORKS   

  • The use of Cad fundamentals, using tools, display options and dimensioning properties. Create new parts, insert a new sketch, add geometry, understand sketch relationships between pieces of geometry and extrude the sketch into a solid.  Choose the best profile for sketching, including use of the editing tools - Edit Sketch, Edit Feature and Rollback. Create Linear patterns and add circular patterns.
  • REvolved Features workshop - create revolved features, apply special dimensioning techniques to sketches for revolved features. Learn the multibody solid technique, create sweep features and calculate the physical properties of a part. Create assembly modelling through the construction of a universal joint. Bottom-Up assemblies are created by adding and orientating existing parts in an assembly. You will analyse some key stage processes, adding first component, positioning of component, Feature Manager design tree and symbols, mating components and sub-assemblies.
