Leading UK car industry expert and media commentator Professor David Bailey will give his inaugural lecture considering the short run impacts leaving the EU might have on the sector, before turning to the impact of uncertainty on foreign investment and the nature of what a future trade deal might look like.
He will argue that there is a need for a renewed industrial policy to support UK auto and manufacturing, and will offer some reflections on the governmentÂs recent Industrial Strategy Green Paper.
Professor David Bailey is a highly influential expert on economic restructuring and industrial policy and provides his unrivalled insight into the sector regularly on local, national and international written and broadcast media. He has provided articles and commentary on key economic and regional policy issues including the closure and eventual reopening of the MG Rover car plant in Birmingham and the Jaguar Land Rover economic success story.
