Cameras have been set up at the Warwickshire building site of the new headquarters of a local automotive component manufacturing company, creating a mini movie of the ongoing construction process.

Rugby based Automotive Insulations (AI) specialise in the development and manufacture of thermal and acoustic insulation materials for vehicles. The company has commissioned the new build of the 65,000 sq. ft. premises at Central Point near Rugby to accommodate their expanding workforce after experiencing a period of unprecedented growth in the UK and Europe.

The solar powered cameras record the site 24 hours a day, providing live site imaging viewable online via the developer’s website atwww.hamdongate.reachtimelapse.co.uk/rugby/.  The footage can also be used to create time-lapse films which show the development speeded up. “We were intrigued by the idea of filming the site’s progress,” comments Jim Griffin, managing director of Automotive Insulations. “It’s a great way of monitoring the build ourselves, whilst keeping our clients and staff up to date with the project.  It’s fascinating to see the transformation of the site, particularly when viewed as a time-lapse feature. “

The three acre site known as Central Point One is being developed and managed by commercial property specialists Hamdon Gate with construction carried out by Winvic. The premises will include a large factory space and two storey offices to almost triple the space that AI currently has.  

Due to open in spring 2014, the company will employ around 200 people at the new headquarters. Central Point One is located within the ‘Golden Triangle’, an established commercial and distribution centre. Adjacent to J1 of the M6 and close to the M6/M1/A14 interchange, the site is also 5 miles from Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT). Companies already located at the site include GAP, Pearsons, Norbert Dentressangle and Quartzelec.

A major supplier of Jaguar Land Rover who recently announced the creation of 1,700 jobs at their nearby Solihull plant, AI celebrated the most successful year in their 47 year history during 2013.  The company has opened new factories in Germany and Sweden during the past 18 months and has also moved to 24 hour working to meet demand.
