Jonathan Lee Recruitment would like to wish the winners and runners up of the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards a huge congratulations.
Team members from Jonathan Lee Recruitment had the pleasure of attending the awards ceremony last week to witness the best the manufacturing sector has to offer.
As sponsors of the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards Developing People Category, Jon Blaze, Head of Operations at Jonathan Lee Recruitment, addressed the audience before presenting the runners up and overall winner with the prestigious accolade.
Jon BlazeÂs speech can be viewed below.
Jon Blaze says: ÂIt was a real honour to sponsor the Developing People category and I was delighted to present the award to the runners up; FSG Tool & Die Ltd and Jaguar Land Rover and overall winners; Superior Seals Ltd. Everyone is aware of the skills shortage in engineering and manufacturing, so to have heard how members are constantly progressing, growing and investing in their people is very encouraging and great to hear for the future.Â

David Woakes, Group Business Development Manager, represented Jonathan Lee Recruitment at the event: ÂWe were delighted to spend the evening in the company of the EEF and their members at the grand Connaught Rooms in London.
ÂI was seated alongside the winner of the Higher Level Apprentice - First Year Award, Ryan Anderson. His boundless enthusiasm for engineering, superbly supported by Siemens Digital Factory, Process Industries and Drives technologies, is a fine example of how the industry is bringing in talented people to secure its future. I was also heartened to see how companies are investing in their people, from apprenticeship level and across the board.Â

Jason Cole, Client Relationship Manager, also attended the event, commenting: ÂIt was fantastic to see the achievements of exceptional people recognised across so many businesses. I was fortunate enough to be in the company of the University of Cambridge team, Andrew Tuscher, EEF Regional Director for Yorkshire & Humber, and regional winning organisations Ideal Boilers, Airedale Springs and Acorn Stairlifts (they make stair lifts you know!).
ÂOne of the highlights of the night was seeing Peter Digby from Xtrac winning the Leadership Award. Peter built Xtrac from an initial team of 4 growing to 300 employees and has rewarded his teamÂs hard work and commitment by giving them equity into the business. Xtrac had a record year in 2015/16 and this award provided the Âicing on the cakeÂ.Â

Also attending the event was Katherine Garratt, Business Partner  Marketing and Events, Jonathan Lee Recruitment who commented: ÂIt was a great evening that really illustrated the passion, talent and world class standards upheld by UK manufacturers. I had the pleasure of being seated alongside 3 Rolls-Royce apprentices who passionately supported their training and entry into the industry.
ÂMany of the eveningÂs winners began their careers as apprentices and now lead global engineering and manufacturing businesses, bearing testament to the value and career progression that can be achieved from investing in apprenticeships and more widely in developing people.Â
