Innovation in Infrastructure Systems
Infrastructure systems describes the systems that provide critical societal services. These include energy, mobility and those services that enable towns and cities to thrive. As these systems face increasing social and environmental pressures, we need innovation to ensure:
- Resilience to change
- Fitness for purpose in the future
- Optimal value from investment
The aim of this competition is to speed up and broaden the innovation which creates UK business growth in infrastructure systems.
Innovate UK are lookijng to fund a portfoilio of projects. These may include technical feasibility, industrial research or experimental development projects.
To be in scope a project must shgow clear and significant innovation in one or more of the following areas:
- energy systems
- nuclear fission
- offshore wind
- connected transport
- urban living
- smart, resilient and sustainable integrated infrastructure
Key Details?
- Total eligible project costs between £25k and £5m
- Project duration between 3 months and 3 years
- Projects may focus on technical feasibility, industrial research or experimental development, depending on the challenge you identify
- Project funding rates between 25-70% depending on company size and project type

Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) 6 funding  Accelerating the drive to low carbon propulsio
The latest grant funding competition through the Advanced Propulsion Centre is now open. APC6: Accelerating the Drive to Low Carbon Propulsion, is set to invest up to £25 million in collaborative research and development that accelerates the development of low carbon, low emission automotive propulsion technologies.
The aim of the competition is to develop on-vehicle technologies. These can be for either on-road or off-road vehicles.
Key Details
- Projects should range from total costs of £5m to £40m
- Projects should last between 18 and 42 months
- All projects must be collaborative
- All projects must include at least one SME partner
- All projects must include at least one vehicle manufacturer and/or a tier 1 supplier as part of your consortium

Clean Sky
Clean Sky is the most ambitious aeronautical research programme ever launched in Europe. Its mission is to develop breakthrough technologies to significantly increase the environmental performances of airplanes and air transport, resulting in less noisy and more fuel efficient aircraft, hence bringing a key contribution in achieving the Single European Sky environmental objectives.
The Clean Sky JTI (Joint Technology Initiative) was born in 2008 and represents a unique Public-Private Partnership between the European Commission and the industry. It is managed by the Clean Sky Joint Undertaking (CSJU) until 31 December 2017.
