Shropshire-based, GWR Fasteners are set to receive a delivery of their fourth Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine, a Star SR38 Type B, which will see increased manufacturing in the region and create a potential boost for jobs in the future.

GWR, a family-run business, took delivery of their first CNC Machine in January 2014, which was a major milestone for the company’s owners, Gary and Jude Robinson. Since then, due to increased customer demand in their manufacturing expertise, an additional two machines were installed within the space of 18 months. GWR doubled their factory space in May 2016 to accommodate their rapid expansion and the fourth machine will be installed in the upcoming months.

Commercial Director of GWR, Jude said: “This is massive news for us. We have spent seven years getting to this point because our dream has always been to be successful manufacturers. This fourth machine, which is manufactured by Star Micronics GB has been supported by Close Brothers Asset Finance and the Government’s Regional Growth Fund, offers us greater dimensional capacity and versatility. We know that our customer base for our manufacturing capability will increase significantly and we will be able to fill the product gaps which we know exist in the fasteners market.”

This expansion is a direct result of Gary and Jude attending MACH 2016 last month. GWR manufacture special fasteners and precision components to customers’ drawings, in various materials (such as stainless steel, brass, various grades of steel, aluminium, PTFE, peek and phosphor bronze) for other fastener companies. They also manufacture fasteners for high-end luxury cars, steam engines, model boats, automotive companies and for other high precision engineering companies.

GWR are a multi-award winning company who have been recognised by entrepreneur Theo Paphitis of TV’s Dragons’ Den. GWR were crowned winners of the 2015 Made in the Midlands Awards, in recognition of their outstanding achievements, as manufacturing heroes of the Midlands.

Made in the Midlands CEO, Jason Pitt said: “It is great to see GWR build on their success at the 2015 Made in the Midlands Awards. They are a brilliant example for the manufacturing industry of a company that are continually building on their successes. GWR’s latest addition also has the potential to boost jobs within the region, so they really are outstanding ambassadors for the sector.”
