The skills shortage in Engineering isnÂt going to go away overnight. WeÂd like you to join with EngineeringUK in being part of the solution by helping us celebrate TomorrowÂs Engineers Week 2017 (#TEWEEK17).
Now in its fifth year, the week runs from 6-10 November 2017. TEWEEK17 is designed to help address the fact that 186,000 people with engineering skills will be needed annually through to 2024. WeÂre asking employers and professional bodies from across the engineering community to join universities, schools and individuals in the week-long drive to inspire the next generation of engineers.
What can you do?
If youÂre already running an activity which promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) during the week , visiting a school or being visited by students, tell us about it. Tweet using #TEWEEK17 so that we can retweet and help spread the word.
#FromIdeaToCareer WeÂve recently created a TomorrowÂs Engineers guide to the amazing world of engineering careers. To countdown to the Week, weÂre turning it into social media content. WeÂd love to have your help:
In your tea break: Share the content from the TomorrowÂs Engineers social media accounts  weÂll be posting this regularly right through to the end of #TEWeek17. Ask your staff to do the same.
In an hour: Create your organisationÂs own #FromIdeaToCareer content to show how young people can take their ideas, passions and dreams and turn them into engineering careers. ThereÂs a template to use at tomorrowsengineers.org.uk/teweek/templates #TEWeek17
If youÂre really busy: Help us spread the word by posting content in your newsletters, on your website and across social media channels. Infographics and the press release will be available to communications contacts nearer the time.
#EngineerOnAMission Throughout #TEWeek17, weÂll be celebrating the engineers who got into their careers to help improve peopleÂs lives. WeÂve got some great stories of engineers using their skills to solve some of the worldÂs biggest problems from helping people recover from natural disasters and creating renewable energy to tackling homelessness and developing new cures for diseases. WeÂd love you to join a mission to help with the campaign!
On a quick mission: WeÂll be creating a series of films and social media content showcasing some inspirational engineers on a mission  share this content throughout #TEWeek17
On a short mission: Create your own suite of social media content showcasing your firmÂs mission, the case studies who are helping make the world a better place and hashtag #EngineerOnAMission so we can see them. There are templates for you to use at tomorrowsengineers.org.uk/teweek/templates
If youÂre up for a bigger challenge: Think about how #EngineerOnAMission could inspire a school visit or workshop and work with the TomorrowÂs Engineers team to make this one of our Âhero events of #TEWeek17. Please get in touch if youÂd like to know more.
