Horizon 2020 has allocated a budget of almost Â6bn until 2020 on non-nuclear energy research.
The Energy Challenge is structured around seven specific objectives and research areas:
Reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint
Low-cost, low-carbon electricity supply
Alternative fuels and mobile energy sources
A single, smart European electricity grid
New knowledge and technologies
Robust decision making and public engagement
Market uptake of energy and ICT innovation
The competitions below are all available within the next 18 months and are between 70-100% funded projects. The Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) need to be at 4-8 depending on the project. Projects are sought which have pan-European benefits and have partners in more than 1 EU country.
