Wolverhampton based healthcare plan provider Paycare has struck up a match ball sponsorship deal with Penn Cricket Club.
As part of the deal Paycare will fund the costs of two brand new balls for every match that Penn CC play this season. In return Paycare receives ground advertising and space in Penn CCÂs match day programmes.
Penn CCÂs president, John Fellows said: We are delighted to have the support of one of WolverhamptonÂs oldest organisations. Both Paycare and Penn CC have been in existence for well over 100 years so this is a great fit for both of us.
ÂSponsors such as Paycare are vital to our club, we need to raise around £20,000 each season just to break even. Match balls alone cost us around £1,500 a season, explained Mr Fellows.
Paycare chief executive, Kevin Rogers said: ÂWe have a reputation for supporting grass root local clubs and organisations and we are proud and honoured to be linked with an historic club like Penn.Â
Penn CC has no fewer than four Saturday teams and two Sunday teams, which include junior and senior players. The club has a great tradition and has produced some fine players such as Phil Oliver of Warwickshire, Greg Wright and Danny Bassett who both played minor county cricket.
There are future plans at Penn CC to convert an existing storage building into a new pavilion and community function room. A grant from Sport England has been made available and a major fund raising effort will soon be launched to raise the remaining £15,000 required for the work.
