More than two years of hard work have paid off at James Lister and Sons Limited, the major independent Midlands provider of industrial supplies, to expand the Quality Management registration, which had been held in one part of the operation, to a fully integrated Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management (QEHS) system across the whole business. The Company are now delighted to announce that they have achieved certification to ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS18001:2007 demonstrating that they work to the highest standards in all aspects of their business.

James Lister and Sons Limited was established nearly 140 years ago in Tipton, in 1874, by a local schoolteacher, James Lister, as a hardware and ironmonger shop. Although the Company has grown considerably since then, it has stayed close to its roots, still supplying various types of hardware, industrial, janitorial and fluid power supplies to a very large customer base, primarily in the Midlands and South Wales. The company remains family owned with three of the four owner/directors being the great great grandsons of James Lister. All the owners are fully involved in running the day to day business with a major focus on maintaining the tradition of service for which the Company is well known.
The product ranges covers everything from hydraulic and pneumatic components and services, ultra high pressure valves, engineering supplies such as cutting tools, abrasives, hand tools, lubricants, through to workwear, janitorial products, office supplies, cleaning machines and even business telecomms contracts and motorsport components! All this is backed up by very extensive service arrangements, including free delivery, on-site support and inventory management solutions including consignment stock where appropriate.
The certification covers all activities of their 7 branches at Smethwick, Willenhall, Redditch, Telford, Aston, Great Bridge and Abergavenny supplying the full range of products and services. Â The Company is also accredited by CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) and is a member of the British Safety Council.
Lister has worked hard to ensure that it can provide the level of professionalism and service that might be expected from a national business whilst maintaining the friendliness and agility of a local company. Many customers have been with the Company as far back as their records go, but with a major focus on Âbeing easy to do business with Lister is attracting significant numbers of new customers who appreciate the caring family approach re-enforced by the professionalism and reliability that working to modern standards brings.
