While talk of Brexit, the single market and Article 50 dominates economic headlines, a local manufacturer has been making a name for itself by revealing new technology to the German automotive market this month (October).
The Autins Group, who have their head office in Rugby in addition to three other sites in the Midlands, exhibited their Neptune insulation material at the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) held in Wolfsburg from 18th to 20th October. The event was attended by automotive manufacturers and suppliers from across the world. Neptune has been developed and manufactured using new technology.
Autins is the sole European manufacturer of Neptune which was launched on the market earlier this year. Used in the manufacture of vehicle parts for acoustic absorption, it is one of the lightest micro fibre insulation materials available to the automotive industry. Stable at temperatures of up to 120°C and with a minimum gross weight of 150gsm, Neptune provides a higher level of acoustic and thermal insulation than many products currently in use.
The Autins Group is comprised of several companies. In addition to the four based in the UK, they also have Scandins in Sweden and Rhineland Insulations in Germany, giving the company a pan European manufacturing, sales and distribution base.
Matthias Migl of Rheinland Insulations was on the stand at IZB and was delighted with the response to Neptune. ÂThe German automotive market is highly successful and competitive, but Neptune really stood out as a product with much to offer the industry in terms of lightweight insulation, he commented. ÂBeing the only supplier in Europe, we had a lot of interest in the product from some major companies.Â
Having a manufacturing presence in Germany, which has the largest share of the European automotive sector, has been very important to the company as Autins CEO Jim Griffin explains: ÂWe have found that having sites in mainland Europe has been very positive for our business, both in the UK and abroad, he comments. ÂBy establishing a local manufacturing base in Sweden and Germany, we have been able to build strong supply and sales networks throughout the continent.Â
