Lodent Precision is extending its range of services with a new subcontract measuring facility. Initially installed to meet the demands of their customers for full inspection reports and documentation.  Lodent are now offering companies wishing to subcontract  inspection of components at a competitive rate utilising latest technology state-of-the-art Bridge type CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

Suitable for large components requiring extremely precise measurement, the CMM is the most accurate solution for three-dimensional measurement. Capable of handling components up to 3000mm x 2000mm x 1500 mm, the Bridge Type, high performance CMM is ideal for the verification of production tolerances across batches and the measurement of large one-off or low volume components such as large castings and machinings. Lodent’s CMM can also be utilised for the calibration and verification of a client’s own equipment where clients do not have their own facility.

The Bridge Type CMM is equipped with DC motors on each axis and is capable of fully automated inspection of parts at a speed of 350mm per second with a volumetric accuracy of U3 = 12 + L/250, giving a maximum error of just 16μm per metre. All feed and speeds are fully adjustable and the operator is able to vary conditions within a particular programme. All measurements are stored digitally for potential interfacing with CAD/CAM systems or monitoring dimensional variance through comparison with historical data.

Y-axis movement is from the Bridge which allows for precision quill position providing high measurement accuracy, with X axis movement achieved by movement of the measuring frame. The machine is equipped with a Renishaw PH10M touch probe fully automatic system.

The company’s subcontract facility is a perfect solution for Automotive, Aerospace, Nuclear and general large machining. The new facility provides a one-stop-shop for service and CMM measurement to reduce the high potential cost of machine failure and unscheduled downtime.

The service is also aimed at suppliers to the automotive and aerospace industries, which may achieve a competitive advantage by utilising the verification and certification facility offered by the subcontracted CMM service, traceable back to international standards at the National Physical Laboratory.

Coupled with our extensive CAD/CAM facilities including Mastercam, Delcam and EZ-Cam we can accept IGES, DXF, DWG, Catia, Step, Stl, Solids etc.

All work will be carried out by the company’s team of highly skilled and experienced engineers who are fully trained on all aspects of the CMM. This new subcontract measuring facility will be of particular interest to a wide range market sectors and companies working in those industries.
