Last week, team members from the aerospace, aviation and defence division attended the celebratory dinner for the MAA (Midlands Aerospace Alliance) 15th anniversary.
The elegant black-tie birthday dinner, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Birmingham, was attended by 140 key players from the aerospace industry and celebrated the accomplishments of the prestigious industry partner.
The recently elected West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, was guest speaker at the event. The mayor, who had recently visited UTC Aerospace Systems in Wolverhampton and Mettis in Redditch, spoke passionately about his vision for the Midlands and the initiatives he intends to focus on for the region.
He highlighted aerospace as a Âhidden gem manufacturing industry in the Midlands which he plans to promote during his tenure. The Mayor was given an ovation by the assembled MAA members and guests.
After dinner, attention turned to the charity raffle. Jonathan Lee Recruitment was proud to sponsor the event, having contributed a giant Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon to the raffle prize draw.
We are pleased to report the Lego set was very popular, with many of the entrants resting their hopes on the star prize! After much anticipation, and the last prize to be drawn, the longed-for Lego set was won by the MAAÂs Maxine Oatridge, who promised to pass it on to her daughter, hopefully inspiring an engineer of the future!
The raffle raised an impressive £1,470 for the charity ÂOnce, we were soldiersÂ, which helps Midlands-based ex-service personnel.

"I also had the opportunity to speak to Professor Hervé Morvan, director of the Institute for Aerospace Technology at the University of Nottingham and MAA Board member, who highlighted the innovative work being undertaken by Midlands aerospace companies including the research and development of electric aeroplanes.
"It is important that the MAA continues to promote the impressive hub of aerospace companies based in the Midlands and the pool of talented individuals that are developing world leading technologies."
