On Friday 6th September, Midtherm Laser Ltd threw open their doors for the Grand Opening of their new sate-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Alan Finch and Dudley South MP, Chris Kelly officially cut the ribbon and allowed Midtherm's customers and suppliers to see their £2.2m investment, which included a full factory tour and demonstrations from their new laser cutting and bending machines for the first time. Over 70 visitors witnessed first hand the advancements in laser technology which was showcased by their brand new Fiber Laser machine and their "No-cross Contamination" non-ferrous cutting facility.
Operations Director, Dean Cockcayne said: "We are very pleased by the amount of people who have taken the time to come and support our event. It has taken us over 12 months to get this facility up and running and it is great to see that everything has gone as planned. We are delighted that The Mayor of Dudley and Mr Kelly opened our new facility, as it marks our commitment to invest in the local community".
Midtherm Laser's investment does not stop at machines and buildings. The company has increased the number of employees from 32 to 40 and with their expected growth they intend to continue to employ more staff by adding a third shift next year.
Mark Hannon, Works Manager at Midtherm Commented: "Everyone in the team has worked incredibly hard to get where we are today. Each department has put measures in place to ensure that we are working as smart as possible. Over the last 12 months we have invested heavily in new software and equipment such as a new server to cope with our workload and the amount of enquiries that we receive. Our system is now working very efficiently which means we can run all of our machines at maximum output resulting in reduced production times and shorter deliver dates".
The company now enters the final quarter of 2013 in a very strong position and their expectations of a record year are clearly in their sights.
