Member of Parliament for Wolverhampton South West, Paul Uppal, recently visited Paycare in George Street to check on the health of one of the countryÂs oldest cash plan providers, founded in 1874.
Paul had previously met PaycareÂs chief executive, Kevin Rogers at the launch of the new Inclusive Lounge for disabled supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux stadium, which Paycare sponsors.
ÂKevin told me about Paycare and the work it does in offering individuals and employers a cost effective way to help people to afford everyday healthcare costs. He invited me to visit to see the operation first hand. I was pleased to accept.
ÂMeeting local businesses is important to me, explained Mr Uppal, Âthrough such contact I can more easily understand what they do and how I might be able to represent them on key issues as they arise in parliament.
ÂI was particularly interested in how PaycareÂs not for profit aspect benefits their policyholders and how, if there is a surplus at the end of the year, the Paycare Charity Trust can make donations to deserving medical charities and research, explained Mr Uppal
Kevin Rogers commented, ÂWe were delighted to welcome Paul to our headquarters and introduce him to our team. Paul showed a real interest in what we do and in our people. I think itÂs important for organisations like ours to meet with MPs so that we can have a mutual understanding of each other and how we can relate together in the future.Â
