West Midlands based forging pressings and fabrication specialists Multi-Stroke Limited is celebrating its 50th year in business.
The Tipton based firm specialises in hot forging work, including horizontal upset forging, vertical press forging and electrical upset forging as well as bespoke metal pressing and fabrication
The company was first established on 6th December 1966 in Tewkesbury designing and manufacturing twist locks and hand brakes for the transportation and containerisation industries. At the time, a strong patent and design ensured that the companyÂs twist locks became a global brand.
A desire to grow the business long term led to the companyÂs first acquisition in 1997 of a West Midlands based presswork firm, adding capacity and expertise to Multi-Strokes existing capabilities and relocating Multi-Stroke to Old Hill in the West Midlands. This was followed in 2001 by a subsequent acquisition of a forging company, again in the West Midlands. In 2005 Multi-Stroke decided to consolidate skills and premises, acquired property in Tipton and merged the businesses into one site.
Since then, Multi-Stroke has grown as a result of establishing strong working relationships with customers. Managing Director Ian Wright comments: Â50 years in any business is a fantastic achievement and it is something that we are really proud of. There is no doubt in my mind that our commitment to meeting our customer's requirements, coupled with a unique set of capabilities is the reason for our longevity.
ÂThe result of our journey so far is a wealth of expertise and experience working with a range of customers across various sectors. In 2009 for example, we signed an exclusive manufacturing agreement with Max Frank Limited in order to supply their Shearail product, followed by further agreements in 2012 with the same firm, all of which fuelled significant growth for Multi-Stroke. More recently, we are set to benefit from an export distribution deal to the United States, supplying Rapid EPS with products for its Edge Protection Systems.
Whilst the companyÂs extensive and flexible capabilities have enabled supply to a broad range of customers, pleasingly Multi-StrokeÂs original Twist Lock work remains as strong as ever.
Ian Wright concludes: ÂLooking to the future, we are excited about growing our export markets such as the United States and also the benefits that additional robotics can bring to our production. At Multi-Stroke, we genuinely have unique and versatile facilities that I believe you could not find anywhere else, which is ultimately what makes us a valuable engineering solution for our existing customer and potentially new customers. Capitalising on our historical strength complemented by investment in robotics, I see a bright future for our company moving forwardsÂ.
