Formed in 2006, NDT Midlands Limited has grown rapidly from a small independent testing business set up in Bushbury, Wolverhampton, to becoming one of the UKÂs premier non-destructive testing facilities.
NDT Midlands moved to an 8,400 sq f t industrial unit in Planetary Road, Willenhall, which offers excellent commercial and logistical links to the whole of the UK.
Having the additional space and being logistically superbly positioned positioned to accommodate most of its customers has led to massive growth.
Therefore the company is undertaking a massive development plan and expanding the business further taking on a new building of around 6,800 sq f t, situated at the back of the current factory. Phase 1 is to double up NDTÂs bar testing capabilities, by adding another magnetic particle Âbus bar testing system.
With the addition of two extra staff this will allow the firm to double up capacity on one shift. It is adding extra racking of an extra 48 tonne capacity to offset any problems it encounters when collections arenÂt made.
Phase 2 is to move component testing, both dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection, into the new building. NDT is investing in a purpose-built dye penetrant system to allow it to test bigger parts and components  the company has had an increased interest in aluminium automotive engine blocks and gear housings.
NDT is increasing
capacity to allow it to test large production batches both efficiently, more
environmentally friendly whilst maintaining profitability.
The company has
taken on a new manager for the component division, James Aldridge, who has 18
years plus experience within the fastener industry and says he will be Âa
marvellous and very professional addition to usÂ.
Andrew Dudwell, who was taken
on as a trainee on February 2006, has been promoted to manager of NDTÂs bar
testing division. Andrew has almost nine years experience of testing various
sizes and defects relating to the bar manufacturing process. His expertise has
given NDTÂs bar customers the confidence to increase capacity over the years
due to the knowledge that they are supplying the highest quality steel.
The
company has also taken on another trainee, Paul Stych, who will undertake 12
months of intensive training to become qualified in all aspects of NDT including
ultrasonics. Paul has 23 years in engineering and is being tasked and developed
to run NDTÂs site division.
