Members of Jonathan Lee Recruitment's Aerospace, Defence and Aviation division attended the British-Irish Airports Expo at the NEC in Birmingham earlier this month. The annual event was hosted by Birmingham International Airport and is a key event in the Aerospace and Aviation calendar, bringing together the airports and suppliers of Britain & Ireland to learn, network and procure.
Over two days the EXPO was attended by 1,488 unique delegates drawn from across Ireland, the UK, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands.
As well as visiting the exhibitors, all delegates were invited to participate in the End-User Conference which was entirely comprised of British-Irish airport or airline speakers who detailed airport development plans ranging from the £1 billion Manchester Airport transformation programme, DublinÂs Â330m second runway investment through to HeathrowÂs enormous £13.5 billion new runway, associated terminals and other facilities.
On the evening of the first day 800 specially-invited guests also attended a 1950s, vintage-themed Gala Party celebrating the ÂGolden Age of Aviation hosted by Birmingham Airport at the Vox Resorts World, the new Las Vegas-style casino just 200 metres away from the EXPO venue.
Nicki Atherton and Sarah Davies from the Aerospace team at Jonathan Lee were invited to join one of the top tables, hosted by William Pearson - Aviation Director - BHX. Nicki commented ÂIt was really impressive to see so many aviation suppliers and VIPs meet in the Midlands. The key event made it a real pleasure to network and discuss current events, we look forward to its return in summer 2017Â.
