One of the UKÂs leading transit packaging manufacturers is celebrating a record period of summer trading, mirroring the improving picture in the UK economy.
Birmingham-based Nicklin Transit Packaging, which provides bespoke timber and corrugated packaging products and services nationwide, enjoyed above budget sales from June to August and surpassed a century of new client wins for the year for the first time in its 100 year history.
In line with the improving overall picture in the UK manufacturing and construction sectors, the company has also acquired a new 14,000 sq ft factory unit to cope with growing demand for transit packaging.
Additionally, Nicklin has also committed £200k of investment into new machinery to develop its growing corrugated product offering from the new facilities, with a further £100,000 expenditure scheduled on infrastructure improvements to meet the demand for single source supply via a broader product range including packaging consumables.
Commenting on the news, David Nicklin, managing director, says:
ÂThe packaging sector is a real bellwether of whatÂs happening in the overall economy so itÂs hugely encouraging to have enjoyed such a buoyant summer. A range of respected indicators are now pointing towards more embedded growth in UK plc and we are certainly seeing significantly improved demand in our sector, particularly for bespoke transit packaging.
ÂThis has been one of the toughest recessions on record so weÂre not resting on our laurels but we have a robust business model in place and a highly talented and motivated team so weÂre confident of continuing to achieve our 2013 growth strategy over the weeks and months ahead.Â
Nicklin Transit Packaging is one of the UKÂs oldest and most experienced transit packaging manufacturers. Based in the Nechells area of Birmingham, the company employs 69 staff and turned over in excess of £6 million in 2012.
