Since 1961, Teekay Couplings have earned a reputation for affordable quality and innovative technology in pipe joining. Based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Teekay complete the whole process from design through to dispatch, and have now joined the RAPRA family.
Despite a product range including more than 15,000 coupling options, Teekay Couplings continue to lead the way with innovative product developments, saving space, weight, time and cost whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality at great value.
In 1995 Teekay Couplings launched the patented Axilock Fire Proof Coupling, that included an internal fire proof sleeve that could not be lost, damaged or removed.
The company now exports into a global market, including more than 80 countries, and has become a generic term synonymous throughout the industry with the mechanical pipe coupling generally being referred to as ÂTeekaysÂ.
Working within a range of industries and applications including Building Services, Water, Shipbuilding, Offshore, Civil Engineering, Energy and Process. Prestigious projects have included the supply of Fire Proof couplings to the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carriers, the largest vessels to enter service within the Royal Navy as well as many of the most prestigious buildings on the London Skyline.
Neil Taylor, Director commented ÂWe were very proud to be a part of the construction of EuropeÂs tallest building, The Shard, when it opened to the public on 1st February 2013. At 310 metres tall to the tip, construction started some four years previously, in March 2009Â.
Ian Webb, Director went on to say ÂThis year we are celebrating the 21st birthday of the first couplings to be installed on commercial vessels which remain in operation today. Throughout this period there has been no need for any repair or maintenance, illustrating perfectly the value of installing a quality product from construction.
In addition, a significant achievement this year has been the successful completion of an eight minute dry fireproof test. Higher safety requirements limit installations where fire protection systems are dry until the point of use. The challenge was to commence a fire test with a dry pipe, which was then flooded with water after eight minutes. It was originally thought that five minutes would be the limit, but through the work of our dedicated Research and Development team the higher standard of eight minutes was achievedÂ.
ÂThe drive behind our focus on our products and the quality and benefits they provide comes naturally to us and reflects the personality of our business, its team and its owners. Through our lengthy experience within the industry we understand the challenges! We offer cost effective, quality products that provide the solutions, together with training to ensure implementation to the highest standards. We have an established history of building long term partnerships with our customers and look forward to continuing to do so into the futureÂ.
Says Ian Webb, ÂTeekay Couplings have joined RAPRA as a direct result of the companyÂs drive for continued development, having identified the synergy between its own drive towards innovation of new materials, products and processes and that of RAPRA. Our unique patented multiseal gasket is an example of the results that have come from our own Research and Development team, but with the support of RAPRA we hope that this will develop till further in years to come.Â
