For more than 40 years Prima Power 3D lasers have been used by automotive manufacturers in the production of vehicle bodywork and structural components. Over time, as their productivity and reliability have increased, lasers have been increasingly used in the 24/7, high volume production of automotive components, in hot-stamped steel and aluminium.
The use of hot-stamped steel components (or HSS High Strength Steel) allows the creation of sturdy and safe but at the same time, light bodies, to reduce emissions and produce greener vehicles.
Aluminium components are widely used in sports car bodies, where lower weight translates to increased performance, and for the construction of battery housings in electric cars.
The Laser Next machine was first designed and developed in 2014 by Prima Power, to meet the needs of mass production automotive manufacturing. The high structural rigidity of the machine, with its granite base and cast aluminium axes, combined with the use of direct and linear motors, allows the attainment of the very highest levels of productivity and reliability.
With the latest, EVO version, available in 1530 and 2130 sizes, the Laser Next has taken a further step forward, offering customers a series of features that lead to increased performance and greater process reliability.

Among the new features of the EVO version, adaptive dynamics allow for the automatic compensation of trajectory errors, as a function of the acceleration and position of the axes. High speeds are thus possible, even on complex trajectories or small holes, reducing the cycle time by up to 10%.
Additionally, a new Safe Cutting function allows the machine to carry out cutting operations whilst maintaining a greater distance between the head and the piece, reducing the risk of collisions without reducing speed.
A new Machine Data Monitor also features, which allows the user to view the volume of work being processed, along with information on production progress, directly on the machine control screen.
The Laser Next EVO allows customers to carry out the essential checks for constant piece quality and cutting process reliability, automatically and quickly, minimizing the time in which the machine is non-productive. To ensure that each profile is properly cut, the check scrap function of the machine verifies the absence of scrap inside a profile in less than 200ms.
Prima Power offers turnkey solutions for the Laser Next machine range, integrated with robotics for even greater productivity and integration into the production flow.
