Rowley Regis toolmaker heralded 'Young Business of...

Cube Precision Engineering are celebrating after picking up the ‘Young Business of the Year’ award at the prestigious Express & Star Business Awards 2013.  The press toolmaking firm saw off considerable competition in the category to pick up the accolade at the event.  Cube Precision where also shortlisted in the 'Export Award' category having developed European Partners leading to contracts with Audi, BMW, Volkswagen and more on mainland Europe and with 36% of their turnover being attributed to export in 2012. 

Impressively, since the launch of Cube Precision Engineering in 2009, turnover has quadrupled and the company now boasts a workforce of 36 employees to ensure 11 CNC machines operate 24 hours a day, 6 days a week.  

Cube maintain very strong roots in the Midlands, despite designing and manufacturing press tools for some of the world’s leading companies in the automotive, aerospace and defence industries.  The firm's talent base has seen Cube promote from within and develop talent from the local area using highly successful apprentice schemes as well as their own training methods. They also adopt a strict policy when sourcing materials locally with 84% of it’s purchases coming from within a 20 mile radius of their Rowley Regis base. 

This most recent achievement is not the first high-profile acknowledgement of the work ongoing at Cube Precision Engineering.  They have already successfully secured £200,000 of Government backed funding in March 2013 through the Export Finance Guarantee package, having won a new contract to manufacture parts for major suppliers to BMW.  The funding also followed the investment in a brand new Hurco VM10 at the turn of 2013, acquired after Cube successfully secured an operational defence contract. 

It’s very clear that Cube are proving their worth as a highly successful business and have no plans to stop investing in both it’s staff and facilities in order to maintain the momentum of this remarkable growth.  With machining centres (up to 5m), lifting capacity (up to 35T) and press try out facilities (1000T) partnered with considerable knowledge and expertise, Cube are certainly one to watch.
