Despite the gloom of the recession, it's refreshing to see glimmers of business success. Worcester based, nationally-operating company, Waste Efficiency Ltd, is determined that, for them, the recession will result in a period of sustained growth. Their business is about helping companies cut costs and make more profit from their waste; a tantalising offer in times of austerity.

So little surprise that this summer has seen a 25% increase in their customers, a move to larger premises, new appointments, promotions and a host of job vacancies.

For the past few years, new business for Waste Efficiency has steadily increased. The company provides waste and facilities services across the UK, to many major engineering, manufacturing and distribution companies, including several national engineering groups and many household names; a client list that has steadily grown since the recession started.

Recent appointments for the company include Claire Short, an experienced compliance manager, who has been appointed to manage relationships with Waste Efficiency's suppliers and contractors. Claire's role will help the company create more opportunities for growth through greater efficiency.

At the same time, one of Waste Efficiency Facility Managers, Steve Shinner, has been promoted to Operations Manager. Steve, who has been with Waste Efficiency for six years, now manages a number of client waste facilities throughout the country.

And, in line with Steve's promotion, Waste Efficiency is currently advertising several vacancies, including sales executives and several waste operatives.

To enable this expansion, Waste Efficiency Ltd has moved from their historic home of Hallow to new, modern premises on a Worcestershire business park.

The main reason for the growth spurt? According to Waste Efficiency's Managing Director, Tim Reed, it's all down to companies needing to comply with tighter legislation and still be more efficient and save costs.

Tim said: "As the recession hits harder, profits are down and now waste is coming under far greater scrutiny. People are realising that potential costs of mismanaging waste can be high, but conversely, a proper waste management solution means dramatic savings are possible, and as we specialise in this area, more and more companies come to us"

So, has Waste Management reached a new era of sophistication?

According to Waste Efficiency, the answer is a resounding "Yes"

Tim continues: "For many years there have been legal obligations to ensure that waste is all treated correctly. However with our experience we can go much further - and our aim is to turn all viable waste into a profitable resource.

"No longer is it just about getting the right price for scrap, this is a total resource management scheme. We even work alongside buying departments to help reduce waste coming onto site."

About Waste Efficiency:

Established in 2003, Waste Efficiency Ltd specialises in providing complete solutions to all waste, recycling and facilities management problems.

The company has grown substantially in a short period of time, and whilst maintaining head offices in Worcester, services the whole of the UK, through a national workforce of operatives, managers and specialists.

WEL’s services are broad, and are tailored to individual requirements. They can provide pure consultancy, compliance or resource management advice, or they can provide a full implementation service from cleaning and recycling to site management. Often their solutions can provide a “pay back” to the customer, for example, by selling recyclable materials, like glass, metals, etc, where Waste Efficiency will then manage the financials to ensure clients get the best possible deal.

In all cases, their background in the Waste industry means that Waste Efficiency can ensure their client companies are totally compliant with current legislation.
