On Thursday 15th January,Taylors International welcomed over 30 delegates to their purpose built lecture room for the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce Transport and Logistics Forum.
Chris Hobson, Head of Information from the Chamber opened the event and thanked Taylors International for hosting the event and for providing a delicious continental breakfast.
Jean-Gil, General Manager and Debbie Morris, Sales Manager, presented to the forum; giving an overview of the history, growth and development of the Taylors Group. At the end of the presentation the forum was invited to join in open discussion about the current challenges facing the logistics industry. The consensus was that the industry needs to invest in training and providing opportunities to encourage the development of a new generation of industry experts. Taylors International are currently investing in recruiting 2 apprentices; these will be  trained in air & sea freight operations and also sales and customer services. Jean-Gil said "We recognise there is a plethora of young talent in the market place. It is our aim to select the right candidates for our division and "grow our own" young team to meet our future succession needs".
The second part of the forum had presentations delivered by Simon Smith a senior lecturer from The University of Derby and Paul Wreaves a Business Coach, focussing on growth, profit and sustainability within the sector.
After the main forum, delegates were given a tour of Taylors' new group headquarters, which  included the operational hub and the warehousing.
It is expected that future forums will held at Taylors Transport International.
