1 BACKGROUND AND KEY DETAILS OF THE COMPANY
Midland Pressure Diecasting are one of the fastest growing die casting foundries within the UK. The company has grown from a start-up in 2000 to the multi-million pound turnover SME it is today operating from a 50,000 square metre plant situated on a 5 acre site with scope for further commercial development.. Midland Pressure Diecasting supply high pressure die castings in aluminium and zinc alloys, CNC machining and tool design. In line with good practice, Midland Pressure Diecasting is seeking to tender the procurement of a one-off variable speed drive (VSD) air compressor
2. AIR COMPRESSOR PROJECT SPECIFICATION
Air compressor requirements
The facility currently uses a 45kW single speed compressor running at full capacity and is in need of replacement. A more energy efficient model is required. Therefore, we are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, capable and experienced party to supply, install and commission a new more energy efficient compressor that sufficiently meets compressed air demand requirements.
We are looking for a single VSD air compressor that adds value. Key features must include:
- Motor rating: 45 - 55 kW
- Working pressure range: 7 bar to 10 bar (100-145 Psi)
- Variable speed drive technology
- CFM capacity requirement: up to 291 CFM
- Delivery to site
Primary requirements
The following factors will be taken into account in assessing a supplier’s suitability.
Insurance
All suppliers should carry insurance and as a matter of course, an appropriate level of public liability insurance.
Environment
Evidence that suppliers are aware of the impact of their activity on the environment and are prepared to work with us in a spirit of continuous improvement. Also that suppliers have accreditation to the relevant environmental standards, if applicable, within their market(s).
Safety and Security
An awareness of, respect for and ability to meet safety and security aspects such as safe recruitment checks on your staff, will be important to our assessment.
Capacity/Capability
We need to be confident that you have the right capacity and capability in the relevant area. Market experience. It is important that suppliers understand the environment of a warehouse or similar environment and therefore previous experience in this sector will be considered.
Financial Viability
Before commencing business with you, we may ask you to submit Report & Accounts for review and we will check for bankruptcy status, non-payment of statutory contributions, etc.
Quality
We will decide on the level of quality required and indicate this to you at the appropriate time. Where industry standards apply we will seek evidence of application of these standards.
3. INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
- You are strongly advised to study this document and to fully familiarise yourselves with the nature and extent of the requirement and all obligations in respect thereof prior to submitting a quote.
- All tender submissions must be written in English and costs submitted are to be presented in Pounds Sterling, inclusive of all other costs where not stated in the pricing schedule.
- Only tenders submitted for the requirement which meets Midland Pressure Diecasting Ltd specification in terms of timescale for delivery/performance/completion will be considered. Bidders shall include responses to all of Midland Pressure Diecasting Ltd requirements.

The Tenders will be evaluated to ascertain the most economically advantageous tender in determining the appointment. The award will be based upon the evaluation of the proposals submitted in response to the documents supplied, relevant technical references, a price and quality scoring mechanism and the results of negotiations.
