Ready, set, go! Round 2 of Innovate UKÂÂs Open Programme, is open. NOW!
The competition is open to the best business-led, innovative or disruptive ideas or concepts. These can be drawn from any technology, engineering or industrial area.
Receive up to £700,000
You must:
- demonstrate transformational or disruptive innovation leading to novel, new products, processes or services
- articulate a clear, anticipated growth and commercialisation impact for the business(es) with considerable, demonstrable
- be a UK-based business
- be a business of any size
- carry out your project in the UK
- work alone or in collaboration with others ?
Projects can focus on:
- feasibility studies which may include a proof of market
- industrial research
- experimental development depending on the challenge identified and proposed solution
Other details:
Projects may last between 6 and 36 months. Total eligible project costs should range from £25,000 to £1 million depending on the type of R&D to be undertaken.

Get ready for 16th January 2017, its back Innovation in infrastructure systems - Round 2
The aim of this competition is to stimulate innovation in the infrastructure systems that provide critical services for our economy, environment and society.
Receive up to £3.5m
This competition has 4 priority areas:
- smart infrastructure
- energy systems (including nuclear fission and offshore wind)
- connected transport
- urban living
Solutions are required that make sure systems:
- are resilient to change and Âshocks (such as natural disasters or disease epidemics)
- are fit for purpose in the future
- provide optimal value for investment
Innovate UK is looking to fund a portfolio of projects. These may include technical feasibility, industrial research or experimental development.
Projects must show significant innovation in one of the priority areas.
Proposals must also improve business growth, productivity and/or create export opportunities for at least one UK SME involved in the project.

Improving solar power technologiesThe aim of this solar competition is to improve EuropeÂs market share in solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies.
Receive a share of £455,000
The joint, co-funded competition is a transnational call for research and development (R&D) proposals. Projects should support the rapid development and implementation of solar technologies within the defined scope. Proposals should include R&D for the technology readiness levels (TRL) 4 to 7.
From a UK perspective, the following topics will be considered:
- innovative and low-cost PV manufacturing issues
- advanced PV products and applications
- PV system integration
- aspects of CSP cost reduction and system integration
