Businesses from Wolverhampton and the Black Country are waiting to find out if they have won a top prize at the Midlands Business Awards
2014.
Leading the way in terms of nominations for the awards, to be
presented at a gala ceremony on Friday 28 February 2014 at the NEC Hilton
Metropole Hotel, is Wednesbury-based Midlands Assembly
Network.
The network comprises a number of different businesses
that act collaboratively to win new work in a range of sectors, including
aerospace, automotive, renewables and food processing. It is a finalist in both
the Midlands Exporter of the Year and the Midlands Manufacturer of the Year
categories.
Joining it in the Midlands Manufacturer of the Year category
will be Lift & Engineering Services of Cradley Heath, a finalist in 2013.
Its MD, David Heywood, is also a finalist for the overall top award of Midlands
Business Person of the Year.
Wolverhampton University is facing
competition from four others in the innovation section of the University of the
Year pool.
Harj Sandher, of Leamington Spa-based UK Special Events which
organises the event, said: ÂThese are still highly challenging economic times
and despite that the entrepreneurial spirit of the Midlands shines through.
These awards appeal to a wide range of companies and individuals and are our way
of celebrating the best of the region.
ÂEach year we unearth some new
stars and the ingenuity of the participants is often staggering.Â
To make
it to the final, all the contenders have had to meet a panel of judges to put
their case for being named the top performer in their particular category.
